Day 2: Why Your Business Should Be Using Facebook Live

Kimberly Reddington · November 1, 2018 · Leave a Comment

There are so many free tools available for small businesses to utilize.

Example: Facebook live.

Some of the benefits?

Attention

Facebook notifies each of your followers you are going live. How’s that for grabbing their attention?

Engagement

It gives you a chance to engage with your following. They can ask you questions or comment while you’re going live – and you can answer them then and there!

Algorithm

Video is the play right now. It seems that algorithms are considerably favoring them.

Authenticity

You can’t fake it. People want to see the face behind your brand. The real, true you. Not all of us are movie stars – and that’s what makes it even better. It doesn’t matter if you mess up or stutter – you’re showing your true, vulnerable self – and that’s what builds a life long connection.

Relationship Building

Give your following the opportunity to see what’s going on behind the closed doors. This is also huge for relationship building. Your following will attach themselves more to your brand if there’s an emotional element involved, not just product, product, product.

If you have any questions or want to learn more about Facebook for your small business – feel free to give me a holler.

Day 1: The Daily Challenge

Kimberly Reddington · October 31, 2018 · Leave a Comment

Seth Godin is the only blogger I subscribe to. He blogs every day, and I read almost all of them.

This post stems from the post he wrote today: The first 1,000 are the most difficult.

I’ve been learning so much the past few years, so much information I want to share with small businesses who could so benefit from it. But I’ve been procrastinating. Until today. Here goes.

There are so many reasons to blog every day – and not just for the SEO (Search Engine Optimization), even though it certainly helps. But for the self. It teaches you to listen, learn, observe, read, summarize, and write……

Thanks for the push, Seth.

I’m Back…

“Have a blog because of the discipline it gives you. To know that you are going to write something tomorrow. Something that might not be read by many people, it doesn’t matter it will be read by you. Day by day you will begin to think more clearly. You will make predictions. You will make assertions. You will make connections. And there they will be in type for you to look at later. This practice of sharing your ideas helps us get out of our own head. It’s no longer the narrative inside, it’s the narrative outside, the narrative you’ve cared enough to share….if you are specific enough, and generous enough and consistent enough, it’s worth the journey.”

It has been over 2 years since my last post, and what a 2 years it has been. Small business marketing is now in my blood, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I will keep this one short, but I am excited to share with you what I have been learning (& listening to).

Support Something

Write a blog post that scares you. Care so much that it makes your hesitate before you hit publish.” -Jonny Nastor

I read this line in Jonny Nastor’s newsletter today, it really made me think. I rack up thoughts and jot them in my iPhone. They are sitting there. With no one to read them. Jonny’s newsletter urged me to take the few minutes to publish.

I encourage you to support something today. I glimpse at my social media and take note that the easy things are massively liked. The food pictures, the selfies, the sunsets. What I recognize that isn’t supported enough…is the passion of individuals.

If you see someone paint something beautiful, someone picking up soccer again, someone starting a band, a business or a craft – support them. Throw a vitalizing message their way. Pat them on the shoulder.  There are far too many likes on basic topics, and not enough likes on the work that matters. On those attempting to make an impact or those feeding their soul.

I hesitated to share this thought in the past…

Publish.

Kick the Hesitation

“Fail hard, push forward, and grow.”

Famous words from one of my favorite guru’s Jonny Nastor of Hack the Entrepreneur. Jonny’s weekly newsletter is gold. Regardless of your gig, Jonny has a sly way of creeping inside your brain and giving you some sort of mystical superpower to kick the hesitation.

At certain times even your closest family and friends don’t have a clue to how many try’s and fail’s you encounter on weekly basis, Jonny reminds you to keep pushing the limits. What’s the worst that can happen? You already have the competitive advantage to those who chose not to.

Thanks again for your motivation, Jonny. Cheers to a new, successful week.

P.S. I am excited to read your new book.
