TED Talk Sunday – Sting “How I Started Writing Songs Again”

Kimberly Reddington · October 5, 2014 · Leave a Comment

Once a week I would like to share an idea worth spreading. TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). They have the power to rejuvenate your motivation and bring new perspectives to the table.

Sometimes you have a fiery passion inside you that you feel no one could extinguish, but the next day you are unsure or hesitant of the direction you are going in. In this TED talk, Sting relates.

Sting refers to a time in his life where he had writers block and for some reason could not come up with new material for his songs. It was a difficult time period for him, especially with the looming pressure of his fame and stardom. It is comforting to know that Sting, one of the world’s most successful rock stars, shares the same doubts and uncertainty.

Check out this TED talk to see how he overcame his writer’s block, and in turn learned more about himself than he even knew.

“Well the fact is, you know whether you are a rockstar or a welder at a shipyard or the Queen of England, at the end of the day we are all in the same boat.” -Sting
